Salvador Allende deserves credit for Chile's strong building codes. Naomi
Klein writes: "Chile's Socialist Rebar." | One private Nebraska company t=
o
count 70% of America's votes. Pete Yost of the Associated Press reports:
"Diebold, ES&S Merger Under Fire." | Outrage should be focused on the
filibuster. Tom De Luca of the Christian Science Monitor: "The
Unconstitutional Filibuster." -- SG/RSN

Naomi Klein | Chile's Socialist Rebar

Naomi Klein, Reader Supported News | Fortunately, the Chicago Boys did no=
t
manage to undo everything Allende accomplished. The National copper compa=
ny,
Codelco, remained in state hands, pumping wealth into public coffers and
preventing the Chicago Boys from tanking Chile's economy completely. They
also never got around to trashing Allende's tough building code, an
ideological oversight for which we should all be grateful.

Diebold, ES&S Merger Under Fire=20

Pete Yost, Associated Press | The Justice Department is investigating
whether to unwind the merger that put a privately held Nebraska company i=
n
control of the voting machines in nearly 70 percent of the nation's
precincts.

Tom De Luca | The Unconstitutional Filibuster

Tom De Luca, Christian Science Monitor | The debate over health care refo=
rm
should have been about doctors, patients, insurance and drug companies, a=
nd
coverage. Instead, much of the attention has been focused on a "preexisti=
ng
condition" in the Senate: the filibuster.scientists.
