Independence
 Abstract:
First Hour: I will discuss different results and conjectures about algebraic independence of complex numbers. Then I will talk about similar statements in the case of function fields in characteristic zero.
Second Hour: I will talk about connections between the independence results in the function field case, differential algebra and model theory. Time permitting I will discuss possible generalizations to the positive characteristic case.
