Dear all,
You are cordially invited to the seminar entitled " OGY Control of The
Forced Duffing Equation" which will be given by Mehmet Onur Fen from
Department of Mathematics, METU.
ABSTRACT : Any chaotic attractor contains an infinite number of unstable
periodic orbits, and control of chaos is based on this fact. The control of
chaos is the stabilization of one of these unstable periodic orbits, by
means of small perturbations applied to the system. One of the basic
approaches developed for control of chaos is the Ott, Grebogi, Yorke (OGY)
method. This method requires a previous determination of an unstable
periodic orbit of the chaotic system to be controlled. Duffing equations are
second order differential equations which have many applications in natural
and engineering sciences. We have proved presence of the chaos through
period-doubling cascade and apply OGY method for the chaotically perturbed
Duffing equation. Our results can be applied to electronics and mechanical
systems.
