*On a theorem of I. M. Isaacs *


It is well known that a finite group admitting an automorphism of prime
order which act fixed-point freely is nilpotent. In this talk we shall
study the structure of finite groups G admitting an automorphism a of prime
order p with p being coprime to |G|, so that any element of prime order
which is fixed by a lies in the center of G . This is a question motivated
by a result of Isaacs which deals with groups having an automorphism fixing
every element of it of prime order.
