Title: An introduction to Equivariant Cohomology.

Abstract:

Around 1960, Borel introduced the notion of Equivariant Cohomology.
His goal was to provide an effective tool for the study of topological
spaces with a group action. Borel's method has indeed deepened our
understanding of how topology interacts with group theory. In this
introductory talk, we elaborate on the main ideas underlying the Borel
construction and Borel's Localization Theorem. Some connections with
algebraic geometry are provided.
