from the EMS Horizon 2020 We would like to draw your attention to the
petition coordinated by Initiative for Science in Europe with the goal of
protecting research funding under Horizon 2020, and in particular for the
ERC.

EMS website www.euro-math-soc.eu The EMS website has now many users. In
particular, the job announcements are frequently visited. The job page
www.euro-math-soc.eu/jobs.html is thus attractive for both advertisers and
applicants.
Collaborators solicited For the further development of the web site,
including blogs discussing topics of wide interest among mathematicians,
the EMS seeks participants in an editorial board for the web page. Please
apply to vice-president Martin Raussen: raussen at math.aau.dk .

News from EMS Committees Applied Mathematics Committee *Meetings *
The next meeting will take place in Paris, in January 2013. Since 2010, the
committee meets every year.
*Activities *
European Summer Schools in Applied Mathematics (ESSAM)
Four schools are organized every year. One by CIME (Italy), one by IMPAN
(Poland), one by the European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical
Biology on mathematical biology, and a last one by the Louis Bachelier
Institute on financial mathematics.
Conclusion of the Forward Look on Mathematics and Industry (FLMI)
The final report of this project funded by the ESF was presented in
Brussels in December 2010. The book “Success stories in industrial
mathematics”, published by Springer, was presented in Dublin in October
2011. Information and documents of the project can be found at
http://www.ceremade.dauphine.fr/FLMI/
Participation in the preparation of a European project for an
e-infrastructure on Mathematics and industry (VEIMI).
The committee acts as advisory group for the EMS Executive Committee on
matters related with applied mathematics. The committee has participated in
drafting the programme of the First EMS-IAMP Summer School on Mathematical
Physics, in producing a list of experts in applied mathematics to help with
the evaluation of EU proposals, in suggesting names for committees with
relations with the EMS, like ICIAM, etc.
