This is to cordially invite you to a series of conferences to take place in
Sabanci Karakoy (Minerva Palace, Istanbul)
this coming Wednesday March 6th, from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. The speakers are two
mathematicians from Lima, Peru,
working in Moduli Spaces and Calabi-Yau manifolds. The talks are aimed to a
broad audience.

Title:* Combinatorial Moduli Spaces*
Speaker: Javier Zúñiga (Universidad del Pacífico)
Time: 2 pm.

Abstract: The Moduli Space of Riemann Surfaces with marked points times a
simplex admits a natural orbicell decomposition
given by so called ribbon graphs or fat graphs. In this expository talk I
will give an introduction to this kind of decompositions
and hint at how it can be extended to the Deligne-Mumford compactification
of the Moduli space.

Title: *Transverse Calabi-Yau manifolds of codimension one. *
Speaker: Jaime Cuadros (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú)
Time: 3.30 pm.

Abstract: Transverse Calabi-Yau manifolds generalize the usual notion of
Calabi-Yau structures. In this talk I will  explain
the natural Sasakian structure  that these manifolds admit in codimension
one. I will also discuss the moduli space of
simply connected 5-manifolds admitting this kind of structures.
