Stern from Bilkent University will be the speaker of Feza Gursey Center 
for Physics and Mathematics Higher Structure Research Group Seminars.

The details of Walker's seminar talk are as follows:

Speaker: Walker Stern (Bilkent University)

Title:Commutative and Frobenius algebras in span categories [1]

Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss the relation of span categories 
to various versions of the symplectic category. I will then expose the 
connection between simplicial objects and algebras in span categories, 
focusing on the 1- and 2-categorical cases to explicate the underlying 
intuitions. Finally, I will discuss recent work (joint with Ivan 
Contreras and Rajan Mehta) generalizing this correspondence to algebras 
with further structure, that is, to commutative and Frobenius algebras.
