*2023 Ikeda Research Award Recipient Türker Özsarı*
*Title of Talk:* Results on the Well-Posedness and Control of Evolution
PDEs on Domains with Boundaries
*Abstract:* In this talk, I will review findings from my research over the
past decade on the local and global well-posedness and control of
initial-boundary value problems (IBVPs). Our discussion will cover IBVPs
derived from evolution partial differential equations (PDEs), including
dispersive models (Schrödinger, Korteweg–De Vries), dissipative models
(heat, Complex Ginzburg-Landau), and hyperbolic models (wave).
Well-posedness problems will be defined in Hadamard’s sense and explored
within the functional framework of Sobolev spaces. I will address
controllability and the qualitative behavior of solutions for IBVPs that
involve manipulations acting through the interior or boundary of the medium
of evolution. In particular, we will introduce some novel approaches for
rigorous treatment of these well-posedness and control problems.
*About Türker Özsarı*
Türker Özsarı completed his B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer
Engineering, followed by an M.S. in Mathematics, at Koç University. He
earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Virginia. He has
taught at Doğuş University, UNC-Charlotte, and IZTECH, and also held a
visiting faculty position at the University of Cambridge. Currently, he is
a faculty in the Mathematics Department at Bilkent University and a member
of the Analysis Research Group. His research interests are centered around
the analysis of partial differential equations and control theory,
particularly focusing on the design, analysis, and controllability of
initial-boundary value problems (IBVPs) associated with spatio-temporal
phenomena in applied sciences. Dr. Özsarı was given the 2020 Young
Scientist Award (BAGEP) by the Turkish Science Academy and the 2021
Research Incentive Award by the METU Parlar Foundation.
