Değerli meslekdaşlarım,
2026 Dünya Matematik Günü temasını ilk olarak sizlere duyurmak isterim:
MATEMATİK ve UMUT
Thales "umut tüm insani değerlerin en evrenselidir" demiş. 2500 sene
sonra matematiğin de en evrensel insani değerlerden biri olduğunu
söylemek herhalde kibir olmaz. Bu değerleri buluşturmak, matematikte
umut, umutta matematik aramak ise pek çok anlamda yeni fırsatlar
yaratabilir.
Matematik bizi hakikat ve gerçeklik kavramları üzerine düşündürür. Tanım
vermeyi öğretir. Takım oyunu, işbirlikleri, verilerin sorumlu bir
şekilde kullanılması, win-win stratejilerinin geliştirilmesi, ve çok
daha fazlası için bize umut verir.
Sanki ortak kabullerimizin tekrardan düşünülmesi netleştirilmesi gereken
bir zamandayız. Özellikle gençlerin umut konusunda, gelecek konusunda
oldukça endişeli olduğu bir zaman. Matematiğe eğilmek, esas olanı tekrar
bulmaya yarayabilir.
Umuyorum ki, bu tema üzerine şimdiden düşünmek, konuyu geliştirmek,
çevrenizle paylaşmak ve gelecek 14 Mart için katkıda bulunmak
isteyenleriniz olacaktır.

2026: "MATHEMATICS AND HOPE"
Every year we announce a theme to flavor the celebration, spark
creativity and bring light to connections between mathematics and all
sorts of fields, concepts and ideas.
The theme selected for the 2026 International Day of Mathematics is
"Mathematics and Hope".
Thales said, "Hope is the most universal of all human possessions." More
than 2,500 years later, we can also say that mathematics is one of the
most universal human possessions.
Connecting hope and mathematics creates opportunities for deeper insight
and knowledge. Mathematics gives us hope to understand reality and truth
clearly, share common definitions, learn cooperation, use data
responsibly, find win-win strategies, and more.
