Hi Everyone,

A message from the Talking Maths in Public Conference organisers here. Best
wishes, Katie

Hello!

Talking Maths in Public is a network for anyone who communicates maths, and
we'd appreciate you passing on the details below to anyone who might be
interested - including details of our bursary scheme for students,
early-career and low-income maths communicators.

This year, the Talking Maths in Public conference (
https://tmip.uk/event-info/) will take place at the University of Warwick
and online, on Thursday 28th - Saturday 30th August 2025. TMiP happens
every two years, and is aimed at people who communicate maths in a variety
of forms, from volunteers to professional outreach providers to people who
deliver maths enrichment activities alongside their work. We cover all
forms of maths engagement, from stage presenting to book writing, hands-on
activities to online shows, and policy advocacy to street performance. The
event is a chance for maths communicators of all kinds to get together,
share ideas and learn new skills in a friendly environment.

The programme for the event (https://tmip.uk/programme/) runs over three
days, and sessions this year include keynotes from Professor Julia Gog and
science communication researcher Jon Chase. There will be workshops from
YouTube animator Will Marler on producing animations, author Kit Yates on
mathematical writing, and stand-up comedy producer Chris Head on
incorporating comedy into our work, as well as workshops on geometrical
programming and idea prototyping, panels on discussing controversial topics
and careers in maths communication, and lightning talks showcasing maths
communication projects from all over the UK and elsewhere. For in-person
attendees, we'll also have a conference dinner on the Thursday, smaller
group socials on Friday and networking activities on Saturday morning.

Tickets cost just £140 and include all conference sessions, refreshments
during all three days, and the conference dinner, as well as a conference
pack, access to recordings of all sessions for a short time afterwards, and
access to our TMiP network. We also have discounted on-campus accommodation
that can be booked for £61 per night. The event is fully hybrid, and remote
tickets cost £30 including access to all hybrid sessions, a virtual
conference pack (with the option of a real pack in the post if in the UK),
and access to session recordings for a limited time. Head to the TMiP
website for more information and to book! (
https://tmip.uk/event-info/#bookinginfo)

We also have a bursary scheme, for students and people who are early in
their maths communication career or low-income, and applications close on
20th June. Details can be found on the bursary section of the TMiP website.

For more information, visit our website at talkingmathsinpublic.uk, where
you can find the full event programme and link to book. If you have any
other questions, please get in touch by emailing
info at talkingmathsinpublic.uk.

And if you would like to help spread the word, then a poster can be
downloaded from our website (http://tmip.uk/downloads/poster_2025.pdf).
Thanks!
