Değerli Liste Üyeleri,

Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi Matematik Bölümü Cebir ve
Sayılar Teorisi Anabilim dalı öğretim üyeleri tarafından kurulan
“Bilecik Algebra & Number Theory (BANT)” grubu tarafından organize
edilen seminer serilerinin yeni konuşması *4 Kasım 2025 Salı günü* online
olarak zoom üzerinden düzenlenecektir.

Etkinliğin web sitesi: https://bilecikalgebranumbertheory.github.io/ dir.

Sıradaki konuşmacı Hong Kong Üniversitesi'nin (Hong Kong) değerli öğretim
üyesi* Ben Kane* olacaktır ve konuşma bilgileri aşağıda yer almaktadır.

Konuşma Adı: *The bias conjecture for elliptic curves over finite fields
and Hurwitz class numbers in arithmetic progressions*

Özet: In this talk, we investigate the bias from the first non-vanishing
term (on average) after the main term in the asymptotic formula for the
second moment of elliptic curves over finite fields whose Trace of
Frobenius lies in a certain arithmetic progression. This is a finite field
version of a conjecture of Steven J. Miller, who considered the same
question for the reduction from a one-parameter family of elliptic curves
over the rationals. We investigate this asymptotic formula through moments
of certain Hurwitz class numbers. This is joint work with Sudhir Pujahari
and Zichen Yang, and builds off of previous work with Kathrin Bringmann and
Sudhir Pujahari.

The "Bilecik Algebra & Number Theory (BANT)" group, founded by the faculty
members of the Department of Algebra and Number Theory at Bilecik Seyh
Edebali University's Faculty of Science, will host its next semester on *Tue,
Nov 4, 2025*. The event will be conducted online via Zoom.

The website for the event is: https://bilecikalgebranumbertheory.github.io/
