  Title: Algebraic limits of sandpiles



   Abstract:  Abelian sandpile model is a prototypical example of
  self-organised criticality, one of the mechanisms of emergent
  complexity in nature.  A characteristic feature of these systems is
  scale transcendence, which manifests mathematically in the form of
  various scaling limit theorems, which are usually geometric or
  probabilistic in their essence. In contrast, what will be discussed
  during the talk are foundations for the algebraic exploration of
  limiting structure of sandpiles, which raises more questions than it
  answers.
