Abstract
Wireless sensor network (WSN) has many potential
applications. One of the unique problems of WSN is that sensor nodes
are usually low-cost devices without tamper resistance but they are
often deployed in unattended and harsh environments. Node replication
attack exploits this problem, in which cryptographic secrets from the
compromised sensor nodes are used to create duplicate sensor nodes in
large number. Then these duplicated sensor nodes are placed in critical
locations of the WSN to mount attacks. In this talk, I will introduce
several mechanisms in detecting node replication attacks, and
demonstrate an asynchronous node replication attack that defeats a
distributed detection mechanism. I will further present 2 new
mechanisms in detecting node replication attacks in mobile sensor
network.
