Simple groups of finite Morley rank

Abstract: The infinite simple groups of finite Morley rank, equivalently  the
$\aleph_1$-categorical simple groups, are conjecturally the Chevalley groups
over algebraically closed fields.  We will discuss the rich classification
project that has grown up around this conjecture.  The methods employed in our
project often parallel the local analysis used in the classification of the
finite simple groups (CFSG), and occasionally shed some light upon subtle
points in the CFSG.
