PhD position in Paris



This 3 years (36 months) PhD position is supported by the ERC Advanced
Grant « New Methods in Non-Archimedean Geometry ».



The applicant is expected to have a strong interest in at least one of
the following topics: Algebraic Geometry, Arithmetic Geometry, Model
Theory.



The research will be focused on Non-Archimedean Geometry in a broad
sense, including but not exclusively topics like Motivic Integration,
Berkovich spaces, Model Theory of valued fields and their applications
to Algebraic Geometry, Singularity Theory, Dynamical Systems, etc.



The proposed salary will be around 24000 euros net per year (ie after
deduction of full social security coverage and health insurance
costs). The student will obtain his PhD from Université Pierre et
Marie Curie.  He will be a member of the  Institut de Mathématique de
Jussieu (UMR 7586) which is located on Campus Jussieu, in the center
of Paris.


Starting date: 1 October 2010.
