Title: Identifying the Natural SLn(K)-module

Abstract: The group SLn(K) of determinant 1, n by n matrices, acts naturally by 
matrix-column multiplication on the linear space K^n. This is the 
simplest example of a representation of the group SLn(K), called the 
natural one.
In general, representations of SLn(K) are well understood, but their 
classification involves some geometry and ideas beyond "pure group 
theory". It is therefore not clear what one can do at the level of 
elementary group theory.
I shall however explain how one can identify the natural module K^n 
among SLn(K)-modules, using purely group-theoretic methods.
The talk is entirely basic and accessible to students.
