*Abstract:*

Normality assumptions are used in many statistical analyses and
applications of statistics. Thus there are many tests to check the
normality assumption. The most primitives are Probability Plot Correlation
Coefficient (R) Test and Tiku’s (Z) test based on sample spacings. Although
they are primitive tests, due to their ease of application they are
commonly used and preferred. In this study, the aim is to investigate the
use of ranked set sampling in the R and Z tests. It is known that ranked
set sampling, in general, represents the population in a better way. It is
expected that ranked set sampling will improve the R and Z tests. By using
simple random sampling for different distributions, the power of

R and Z tests are calculated and these are compared with the results by
using ranked set sampling.
