[Turkmath:4759] Leicester pure maths crisis ve Boğaziçi Üniversitesi

Kıvanç’ın çağrısına ben de başka bir çağrı ile katılayım. Leicester Üniversitesi (saf) matematik bölümü kapanma tehlikesi altında. Bu tehdit daha önce de olmuştu ama tepkiler sonucunda üniversite yönetimi teklifi geri çekmişti. Üniversitede çalışanlar kamuoyu oluşturabilmek için imza kampanyası başlatmışlar. Tabii bizim için daha önemli konu Boğaziçi üniversitesinde yaşananlar. Türkiye’nin en iyi üniversitelerinden birine akademik yeterliliği kuşkulu, üniversitenin kabul edemeyeceği bir rektörün tamamen siyasi sebeplerle atanması anlaşılır bir şey değil. Orada çalışan matematikçi arkadaşlara sabırlar diliyorum, umarım sorunlar en kısa sürede hallolur ve herkes eski ortamında işine gücüne döner. Ama doğrusu bu konuda çok umudum yok, görünen o ki hepimizi akademik hayatta daha da zor günler bekliyor.
