November by Dr. Dimitrios Papathanasiou (Sabancı University).

Time and place: At 14:00 in Department of Mathematics, Lecture Room 5

Title: Shift operators in Linear Dynamics

Abstract: Weighted shifts formulate one of the most important classes of
operators and they have been extensively studied. Their dynamic behaviour
has been well understood since the work of Salas. In this talk, we will
introduce several notions of shift-like operators and discuss their
dynamics. We will start from the usual weighted shifts, pass to weighted
shifts on trees and end up with the generalized shifts. The talk will be
based on joint papers with Karl Grosse-Erdmann and Quentin Menet.
