Değerli Liste Üyeleri,
Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi Matematik Bölümü Cebir ve
Sayılar Teorisi Anabilim dalı öğretim üyeleri tarafından kurulan
“Bilecik Algebra & Number Theory (BANT)” grubu tarafından organize
edilen seminer serilerinin yeni konuşması* 16 Aralık 2025 Salı günü* online
olarak zoom üzerinden düzenlenecektir.
Etkinliğin web sitesi: https://bilecikalgebranumbertheory.github.io/ dir.
Sıradaki konuşmacı Kyushu Üniversitesi'nin (Japonya) değerli öğretim
üyesi* Toshiki
Matsusaka* olacaktır ve konuşma bilgileri aşağıda yer almaktadır.
*Konuşma Adı:* *The interaction of number theory and topology through
modular knots*
*Özet:* Closed geodesics associated with indefinite binary quadratic forms,
or equivalently with real quadratic irrationals, have long been studied as
geometric SL2(Z)-invariant. Building on the Birman-Williams approach to
Lorenz knots and following the notion of modular knots introduced by Ghys,
this talk investigates the topological SL2(Z)-invariants arising from
modular knots. (This is joint work with Soon-Yi Kang and Kyungbae Park).

Dear list members,
The "Bilecik Algebra & Number Theory (BANT)" group, founded by the faculty
members of the Department of Algebra and Number Theory at Bilecik Seyh
Edebali University's Faculty of Science, will host its next semester on *Tue,
Dec 16, 2025*. The event will be conducted online via Zoom.
The website for the event is: https://bilecikalgebranumbertheory.github.io/
.
The inaugural speaker will be *Toshiki Matsusaka*, a faculty member at
Kyushu University, Japan. Details of the presentation are provided below.
*Title: **The bias conjecture for elliptic curves over finite fields and
Hurwitz class numbers in arithmetic progressions*
*Abstract: *Closed geodesics associated with indefinite binary quadratic
forms, or equivalently with real quadratic irrationals, have long been
studied as geometric SL2(Z)-invariant. Building on the Birman-Williams
approach to Lorenz knots and following the notion of modular knots
introduced by Ghys, this talk investigates the topological
SL2(Z)-invariants arising from modular knots. (This is joint work with
Soon-Yi Kang and Kyungbae Park).
