Balkan Mathematics Conference (BMC)

EMS - Regional Conference Series

CALL FOR BMC III

The purpose of the Balkan Mathematics Conference (BMC) series is to
bring together mathematicians from the Balkan and neighbouring
countries, biennially in one of these countries. The BMC is a regional
conference organised under the auspices of the EMS and it welcomes
mathematicians from all over the world. The BMC is also supported by the
Mathematical Society of Southeastern Europe (MASSEE).

The first Balkan Mathematics conference took place in July 2023 in
Piteşti, Romania, together with the 10th Congress of Romanian
Mathematicians, http://imar.ro/~bmc/. The second Balkan Mathematics
congress took place in June 2025 in Thessaloniki, Greece,
https://sites.google.com/view/bmc-ii [1].

The BMC is organised by a Steering Committee, a Scientific Advisory
Committee and a Local Organising Committee. The Steering Committee
consists of three ex-officio members, the EMS President, the EMS
past-president, the Chair of the EMS Committee for European Solidarity,
as well as one regional coordinator appointed by the EMS Executive
Committee. The Scientific Advisory Committee is formed by the invited
speakers of the previous meeting and a representative and it is chaired
by the previous EMS President.

The third BMC should ideally be held in June 2027.

The EMS invites all mathematical institutions in the Balkan region to
prepare a bid for BMC III including the proposed Local Organising
Committee members, the location and dates for the event and supporting
institutions. This call is sent to all the Balkan Mathematical Societies
and to MASSEE for dissemination.

The proposals should be sent to the EMS Office, ems-office at helsinki.fi,
by January 31, 2026.
